Marisa Mancinelli will leave an indelible mark as a student athlete when she graduates from Bishop Diego.
On Monday, she was honored by the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table as Bishop Diego’s Scholar Athlete of the Year. The senior was presented the award at the SBART’s press luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.
As an athlete, Mancineilli helped start the girls golf team at the school, earned All Tri-Valley League honors all four years in the sport and qualified for the CIF-SS Northern Individual Championships last fall.
She also excels in track, earning all-league honors as a member of the 4×100 relay team.
She is a high achiever in the classroom. She carries a 4.62 grade point average while taking a class load that includes Advanced Placement courses in Art, English Literature, Calculus, Chemistry and Government & Economics and Advanced Graphic Art.
Mancinelli has been recognized as a “Second Marshal” at Bishop Diego, which is awarded for maintaining the second highest GPA in her junior year.
She’s earned AP Scholar with Honors recognition, won Scholar Athlete Awards in two sports all four years of high school and has received a Merit Scholarship for placing in the top five in her class (based on GPA) every year of her high school career.
“I’m thankful for the education I have received from Bishop Diego,” said the daughter of Ricci and Renee Mancincelli.
Her community service activities include serving as a counselor in training at the Museum of Natural History, participating in her church to serve those in need, being a part of the campus ministry at Bishop Diego and tutoring elementary school students in math.
