Mills and Zuffelato will be honored at next Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe, as there was no luncheon this week due to Presidents’ Day.

In a pair of big wins last week, Mills was the team’s leading scorer in both of them.

Mills scored six goals and racked up four assists in an 18-0 win over Calabasas and followed that up with four goals and three assists in a 16-4 victory against Hart.

As for Zuffelato, he and the Dons had their CIF-SS playoff run come to an end last week, but not before a pair of legendary performances from the junior star.

Zuffelato dropped 37 points and buried a game-winning three to upset top-seeded San Clemente by a score of 61-59 in the quarterfinals. Then, he led all scorers with 34 points in a tight 59-57 loss to Don Bosco Tech in the semifinals.

The girls honorable mentions were Liv Plourde (San Marcos Lacrosse), Olivia Ressler (Santa Barbara Softball) and Madison Benedict (Santa Barbara Softball).

Meanwhile, the boys honorable mentions were Charlie Potter (Dos Pueblos Baseball), Jesse Di Maggio (Dos Pueblos Baseball), Jetner Welch (Santa Barbara Baseball) and DJ Wilson (Santa Barbara Basketball).

The Athlete of the Week award winners are selected by the local sports media. Coaches are encouraged to nominate deserving athletes. Nominations should be sent to sports@noozhawk.com by Saturday morning, if possible.

The award is sponsored by the law firm of Maho-Prentice.
