Renteria and Leonard were honored at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.

On his Senior Night, Renteria turned in a great all-around performance from the quarterback position. He completed 31-of-40 pass attempts for 330 passing yards.

When he was done passing his way down the field, Renteria scored all three of his team’s touchdowns on the ground en route to a 21-7 win over Oxnard.

Meanwhile, Leonard played just about as well as you can on a tennis court, going 9-0 in singles matchups across three games, all three of which the Warriors won.

In a 3-0 performance against Villanova, she lost just two games, and in her final set of the week, she came back from down 4-1 to win 6-4 and preserve the undefeated week.

The male honorable mentions included Sam Rich (San Marcos Water Polo), Noah Peterson (Bishop Diego Water Polo), Gabriel Lea (Laguna Blanca Football) and Kai Mault (Santa Barbara Football).

For the girls, the honorable mentions were Emmy Werner (Santa Barbara Volleyball), Gwen Chenoweth (Santa Barbara Volleyball), Josie Gamberdella (San Marcos Volleyball), Rio Chesluk (San Marcos Flag Football) and Gianna Nichols (Dos Pueblos Flag Football).

The Athlete of the Week award winners are selected by the local sports media. Coaches are encouraged to nominate deserving athletes. Nominations should be sent to sports@noozhawk.com by Saturday morning, if possible.
