San Marcos’ Koji Hefner, Dos Pueblos’ Reagan Mack Named Athletes of the Week

San Marcos basketball’s Koji Hefner and Dos Pueblos water polo’s Reagan Mack shined en route to this week’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week honors.

The duo will be honored at next Monday’s SBART Press Luncheon, as there is no luncheon on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Hefner filled up the stat sheet with 18 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals in the Royals’ 63-52 win over Santa Barbara High, their first over the crosstown rival since Feb. 2023.

He also chipped in 11 points and played strong defense in the team’s 59-54 victory over Pacifica earlier in the week.

Meanwhile, Mack dominated in the cage as the Chargers went 4-0 this weekend and captured the Ocean View Tournament championship.

She totaled 45 saves and allowed just nine goals in their four games, including a 12-save, three-steal and one-goal performance in the title game against Santiago. 

The boys honorable mentions were Brody Green (SM Basketball), Holden Pak (Laguna Basketball), Luke Popovich (Laguna Basketball), Baylor Wilson (Laguna Soccer), Teke Meisel (Cate Soccer) and Luis Campos (Santa Barbara Soccer).

The girls honorable mentions were Charlotte Raisin (SM Water Polo), Eden Wynne (Bishop Basketball), Carly Letendre (DP Basketball), Kindah Ahmad-Reda (DP Basketball), Sofia Faraoni (SM Soccer ) and Elle Harris (Laguna Soccer).

The Athlete of the Week award winners are selected by the local sports media. Coaches are encouraged to nominate deserving athletes. Nominations should be sent to sports@noozhawk.com by Saturday afternoon, if possible.
