The San Marcos duo of Aidan Conlan and Sofi Hernandez shined last week en route to winning the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week honors.
The duo, made up of a basketball and cross country standout, was honored at Monday’s SBART Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.
Conlan kicked off the 2025-26 campaign with a team-high 14 points, including five in overtime, in a comeback 47-46 victory over Oak Park.
He then closed out the week with a strong 16-point showing against a previously undefeated Oaks Christian squad.
Meanwhile, Hernandez raced her way to a 62nd-place showing with a time of 18:42 at the CIF Division 3 State Meet.
Her performance helped the Royals to a 10th-place finish as a team to cap off a strong season that also featured a Channel League championship.
The boys honorable mentions were Shane Kwizera (Bishop Basketball), Crew Sjovold (Bishop Basketball) and Wyatt Gardiner (DP Basketball).
The girls honorable mentions were Carly Letendre (DP Basketball) and Elsie Tuttle (SM Cross Country).
The Athlete of the Week award winners are selected by the local sports media. Coaches are encouraged to nominate deserving athletes. Nominations should be sent to sports@noozhawk.com by Saturday afternoon, if possible.
