The trio of San Marcos volleyball’s Lila Westmacott, San Marcos flag football’s Peyton Sperling and Santa Barbara High’s Aaron Baizan earned the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week honors.

Westmacott and Sperling, the co-girls Athletes of the Week, and Baizan, the boys Athlete of the Week, were honored at Monday’s SBART Press Luncheon.
On the volleyball court, Westmacott helped lead the Royals to a pair of big sweeps last week to clinch the Channel League championship.
Westmacott totaled over 30 assists in each of the two games to secure the program’s second straight league title.
Meanwhile, Sperling filled up the stat sheet in a trio of Channel League matchups as the Royals remained tied atop the league standings.
Across three wins over Rio Mesa, Santa Barbara High and Ventura, Sperling totaled 237 yards of offense and six touchdowns to go along with a pair of interceptions on the defensive end.
Speaking of production on both ends of the field, Baizan was a force for the Dons on offense and defense in last week’s 45-13 win over Rio Mesa.
Baizan took nine carries for 96 yards and a touchdown from the running back position, and collected six tackles, two quarterback hurries and one tackle for loss at linebacker in the victory.
The boys honorable mentions were Cole Dominguez (SM Football), Jake Magid (SM Water Polo), Grant Nelson (DP Water Polo) and Owen Abbott (DP Cross Country).
The girls honorable mentions were Addie Low (DP Volleyball), Nicole Buist (SB Tennis), Kacey Hurley (DP Flag Football) and Elsie Tuttle (SM Cross Country).
The Athlete of the Week award winners are selected by the local sports media. Coaches are encouraged to nominate deserving athletes. Nominations should be sent to sports@noozhawk.com by Saturday afternoon, if possible.
