Local quarterbacks Griffin Arnold of Santa Barbara High Football and Victoria Aldana of San Marcos flag football led their teams to impressive wins last week en route to earning the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Week honors.


The pairing was honored at Monday’s SBART Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.
Arnold led the Dons’ offense to the biggest scoring output in the history of the Big Game, piling on 60 points to run away with the 60-0 win over San Marcos.
The sophomore completed 11-of-16 pass attempts for 233 yards and five touchdowns en route to also being named the Gary Blades Memorial Big Game MVP award.
Meanwhile, Aldana began her week by powering the Royals to a 32-0 win over Ventura by completing 21-of-24 passes for 174 yards and four touchdowns. She also rushed for 43 yards and hauled in an interception on defense.
She followed that up by going 15-for-21 for 116 yards and two passing touchdowns, while also rushing for 103 yards and two scores in a 40-0 rout of Pacifica.
The boys honorable mentions were Monty Lopez (SB Football), Gabe Villa (Bishop Football), Christian Yonker (SM Water Polo), Grant Nelson (DP Water Polo), Koa Zertuche (DP Water Polo) and Liam Mose (Cate Water Polo).
The girls honorable mentions were Brooklyn Hedricks (DP Flag Football), Addie Low (DP Volleyball), Jules Horton (SB Volleyball), Karina Urzua (Bishop Volleyball), Jamaica Cook (Carp Golf) and Elsie Tuttle (SM Cross Country).
