Santa Barbara High track & field’s Carter Battle and San Marcos swim’s Taylor Steelman dominated the field last week and were named the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athletes of the Week.

The duo was honored at Monday’s SBART Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.
Battle began his week with a strong showing in a Channel League meet against Rio Mesa, taking first place in the high jump and racing a leg of the first-place 4×400-meter relay team.
Later in the week, the senior captured first place in the high jump at the Arcadia Invitational. He jumped a mark of 6-foot-8.75-inches, breaking a 44-year-old school record previously held by Randall Cunningham.
Meanwhile, Steelman led the Royals to a first-place finish in the inaugural Tri-County Invitational. Individually, she finished first in the 100 breaststroke and the 100 butterfly.
She then joined forces with her teammates to place first in the 200 freestyle relay, the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay races.
