The pairing was honored at Monday’s SBART Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.

Limon made the most of the Dons’ lone game of the break, scoring both of her team’s goals to secure a 2-1 victory over Lompoc in Peabody Stadium.

The Santa Barbara High girls soccer squad will look to maintain its momentum on Monday with a short trip down to take on Carpinteria High in a non-league matchup.

Meanwhile, Gengo poured in 21 points to pace the Royals’ scoring attack in a 70-48 win over Thousand Oaks at the Santa Clara Showcase. He was named the MVP of the game.

Gengo and San Marcos will take the week off before ramping up Channel League play next week.

The girls honorable mention was Dayzia Mendoza (SB Basketball) while the boys honorable mentions were Phillip Contakes (DP Cross Country) and Luke Zuffelato (SB Basketball).

The Athlete of the Week award winners are selected by the local sports media. Coaches are encouraged to nominate deserving athletes. Nominations should be sent to sports@noozhawk.com by Saturday afternoon, if possible.
