Dos Pueblos basketball player Leila Chisholm and San Marcos wrestler Ambrose Partee were honored as the Athletes of the Week at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Press Luncheon.
Chisholm, a senior guard, knocked down seven three-pointers and scored 29 points to lead Dos Pueblos to a 62-50 Channel League victory at Santa Barbara High.
It was the first time the Chargers had beaten their crosstown rivals since 2017.
Partee won the deciding bout against Dos Pueblos to clinch a second straight Channel League team title for San Marcos (4-0 in league).
Wrestling up two weight classes, Partee, a junior, pinned his opponent in the second period of the 184-pound bout to give San Marcos a 24-23 lead. The Royals won the match 42-23.
The honorable mention choices for the week were San Marcos water polo player Ava Stryker and Shakir Ahmad of the San Marcos boys basketball team.
The Athletes of the Week are chosen by the local sports media from a list of candidates determined by Noozhawk Sports.
