Luciani Koroshec, a member of the Dos Pueblos High boys cross country team that ran in the CIF State Championships, and Santa Barbara High basketball’s Elle Stone were named the Athletes of the Week at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe.
Stone, a freshman forward, started her high school career on a high note. In her debut two weeks ago, she scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 63-48 loss against Oxnard.
Last week, she scored 27 points again, grabbed eight rebounds and had seven steals in the Dons’ 58-31 win over Buena.
Koroshec, a junior, was DP’s top finisher in the Division 3 boys race at the State Championships at Woodward Park in Fresno. He came in 47th place (16:10.9) out of 205 finishers in the race, helping the Chargers place 16th out of 25 schools.
The honorable mention choices include Jared Brown (Westmont men’s basketball), Macall Peed (UCSB women’s volleyball), Laila Saenz (Westmont women’s basketball) and Isabelle Regalado (Dos Pueblos wrestling).
