The Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table honored the student athletes as the Athletes of the Week at Monday’s final press luncheon of the 2020-21 school year at The Creekside Restaurant.

In a CIF semifinal game, Orozco scored a golden goal in the second 10-minute overtime period to give the undefeated Royals a 1-0 victory over South Pasadena and a spot in the Division 5 championship game on Friday against Paraclete. Kickoff is at 5 p.m.

Orozco also came up huge in the quarterfinals. She scored two goals in a 3-3 deadlock at Pasadena-Marshall and converted a penalty-kick in a 5-4 tiebreaking-shootout victory to help the Royals advance.

Melton was a standout in the pool at the Citrus Coast League finals.

The freshman set school records and CIF automatic qualifying times in winning the 200 individual medley (2:08.7) and 100 breaststroke (1:05.57).  His victories helped the Warriors win the boys team championship.

Melton’s 200 IM time is the third fastest qualifying mark for the Division 4 Finals and his 100 breaststroke time is the fifth fastest.

The male honorable mention choices include Jacob Snodgress (San Marcos track) and Tyler Williams (Bishop Diego basketball).

Jayla Provance (San Marcos golf), Ava Carter (San Marcos track) and Holly Woodhouse (San Marcos swimming) were the other female candidates for the award.
