Santa Barbara High football player Deacon Hill and Dos Pueblos cross country runner Phoebe Wolfe Lyons have been named the Athetes of the Week.

Deacon Hill, Santa Barbara High football.

The pair will be honored at next Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon. There was no luncheon on Monday because of the Veterans Day holiday.

Hill led the Golden Tornado —Santa Barbara’s nickname in the playoffs — to a 44-0 victory over Gahr in a CIF-SS Division 8 first-round game. It was the program’s first playoff win since 1989.

The junior quarterback and Wisconsin commit threw four touchdown passes and completed 10 of 14 for 202 yards.

Wolfe Lyons won the Channel League girls varsity individual championship and led the Chargers to the team title. They’ll be competing at the CIF-SS Prelims on Saturday in Riverside.

A freshman, Wolfe Lyons also won the midseason league meet and finished second at the Riverside Invitational.

The honorable mention choices for the female award include Cassidy Rea (Westmont volleyball) and Annie Ackert (SBCC water polo).

The male athletes considered for the award were Cade Roth (Westmont basketball), Rodney Michael (UCSB soccer), Ryan Drake (Santa Barbara High water polo) and Dylan Richardson (Dos Pueblos cross country).
