Carolin Chang of the SBCC golf team and Dos Pueblos cross country standout Hunter Clark were honored as the Athletes of the Week at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.
Chang won the California Community College individual women’s golf title and led the Vaqueros to the team championship. Her two-round total of 7-over 151 was three strokes better than the second-place finisher.
The team state title was the fourth in SBCC history
Clark qualified for the CIF State Cross Country Championships and placed 14th in the Division 2 race at Fresno’s Woodward Park. The junior, who was as far back as 69th place after the first mile, picked up his pace and finished the 3-mile course in 15:33.20.
Athletes who received honorable mention honors for Athlete of Week include Caylin Zimmerman (Laguna Blanca volleyball), Katelynn Womack (SBCC volleyball), Amber Belleti (Dos Pueblos basketball), Kyril Van Schendel (Cate cross country), Gabe Vincent (UCSB basketball) and Cory Blau (Westmont basketball).
