Stephen McCaffery’s nine-touchdown performance and a Channel League individual victory for Adilene Aldapa earned them Athlete of the Week honors on Monday at the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.
McCaffery helped bring Laguna Blanca’s eight-man football team a CIF victory by delivering nine touchdowns in one game. The Owls senior rushed for six scores, passed for another, and returned two interceptions for touchdowns as well.
Laguna Blanca, which won 66-44 in its CIF opener, will host No. 1 Thacher on Friday under the lights at Warkentin Stadium at San Marcos High School.
Aldapa had been a top-five finisher at each of the first two Channel League meets before breaking through with a victory on Thursday in Ventura. Aldpapa, whose time was 18:02, helped the Royals’ team qualify for CIF by finishing second.
