ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Mekia Valentine, UCSB Women’s Basketball — Valentine recorded the first-ever triple-double by a Gaucho woman in Sunday’s win, and the first triple-double by any UCSB player since Brian Shaw did it for the men’s team in 1988.
Sergey Sushchikh, Dos Pueblos Cross Country — Sushchikh won the award for the second time this year after placing fifth in the state in the Division II race. That helped the Charger boys take 10th in the state as a team.
