Amanda Moreno, UCSB Cross Country — Moreno ran a record-shattering 19:57.0 over the 6K Ag/Ops Course in Riverside on Saturday to lead the Gaucho women’s cross country team to its second consecutive Big West championship. Moreno’s time was both a course record and a Big West mark, breaking former UCSB-great Danielle Domenichelli previous record by a little over 12 seconds.
Michael Spiritosanto, Dos Pueblos — The Chargers’ bruising dual-threat quarterback threw a touchdown pass and ran for two more in a 27-7 victory over Santa Barbara High on Friday. He rushed for a game-high 134 yards in the game, and the Chargers will have a shot at both the city title and Channel League championship coming up.
