2010 Fall Football Preview Highlights

On Tuesday, August 31, the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table invited all of our area’s football coaches to the Endless Summer Bar & Grill for the annual Fall Football Preview.

Here’s what the coaches had to say on the eve of their seasons.

SBCC head coach Craig Moropoulos is thrilled to be playing on a new surface at La Playa Stadium this year and said his second-year quarterback John Uribe is more poised this year. (All Photos by PresidioSports.com)
Santa Barbara Dons head coach Jaime Melgoza said he's committed to bringing "Santa Barbara Dons Football back."
Chargers head coach Jeff Uyesaka commented that his team had more size this season and would be running a spread offense. He also mentioned that Dos Pueblos was half-way through fundraising for a new synthetic field.
San Marcos is also on its way to intalling a synthetic surface for its playing field Athletic Director Abe Jahadhmy said. Jahadhmy was also thankful to have coach Hesselmeyer return this season.
Carpinteria assistant coach Van Latham was happy to note that without Oaks Christian this season, "for the first time in a decade, the league is really wide open."

Bishop Diego, which received a preseason ranking of No. 9 in the East Valley Division, is athletic and aggresive this year.
Cate head coach Ben Soto has a team made up of mostly returning players this season, which he says should translate into a solid season.
Laguna Blanca head coach Ray Robitaille is enjoying his team's new facilities and equipment, like a new concussion test that will help protect his players.
Round Table boardmember Bob Dinaberg is excited for another year of Big Fridays, which broadcasts a prep football game every week.
