Male Athlete of the Week: Orlando Johnson scored 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds in UCSB’s 68-67 home win against Pacific on Sunday, going 4-for-4 from long range. The victory was the Gauchos’ third straight, putting them in first place at 3-1. He scored 12 points to go along with five assists in a rout of UC Davis and scored 17 in a 4-point win over UC Riverside.
Female Athlete of the Week: The Santa Barbara High girls soccer team was trailing San Marcos 1-0 in the second half on Thursday until Lopez somehow bent a left-footed corner kick just inside the top corner of the far post. Just a few minutes later, she sent a perfect corner kick in to assist Kai Miller for the game-winner.
