Male Athlete of the Week Paul “Munchie” Aguilar led the Carpinteria High football team to its first win of the season on Saturday. The quarterback rushed for 213 yards with two touchdowns on 21 carries, also playing a solid game offensively. He picked quite a time to have the performance, considering it came against rival Bishop Diego in the “Little Big Game.”
Female Athlete of the Week Katy Roby scored the equalizer in regulation and also put away the fourth penalty kick in the UCSB women’s soccer team’s shootout win at Cal Poly in the Big West Tournament Championship game. The win earned the Gauchos their second straight NCAA tournament bid, where they will face BYU in Thursday’s first round.
