Brendan Kerwin-McElroy and Maria Mayer, this week’s Round Table Athletes of the Week, enjoyed undefeated weeks with each of their teams.
Mayer, a San Marcos graduate, led Santa Barbara City College to three wins last week, making it seven in a row overall. The sophomore led the Vaqueros with double-digit kill totals in each of the victories, including two on Saturday at SBCC’s very own Quad Tournament.
Kerwin-McElroy tallied an incredible nine goals on Saturday for the Santa Barbara High boys water polo team, even more astounding in that they came in a tight 13-12 decision over Esperanza, Div. I’s No. 10 team. The senior also led the Dons in scoring the previous night in another Santa Barbara win, 10-9 over Servite.
